Programs for Teens

Check the online calendar of events or stop in at the library front desk for more information about programs and events. Attendance at any of the library events indicates permission for the Ocean Shores Public Library to use photographs or videos taken of you or your children for the purpose of promoting the library and its services. Programs for all ages are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean Shores Public Library.

 

Sons of the American RevolutionPatriot Chest
Wednesday, April 24th, 12:30 - 1:30 PM

A Revolutionary War uniformed soldier will literally bring history to your hands. Explore a Continental Uniform Jacket, a Mop Cap, a Waist Coat, a Shut the Box game, Spy Coins, Quilt Flags - Betsy Ross, a Sun Dial, a Candle Lantern, Spanish Currency, a Pressed Tea Brick, Fire Making Tools, Writing Quills/Ink, and Bees Wax.


 

Dungeons & DragonsD&D Game Night
Fridays from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. April 26th & May 3rd, 10th, 17th.
NO D&D May 24th.

Want to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't have group of people to play with? The library has all the materials you'll need to play, all you need to bring is a desire to adventure! This program is open to everyone ages 10 and older. No prior experience with D&D is required, players of all experience levels are welcome!


 

Teen Zone Teen Zone
Monday, April 29th, 3:00 - 5:00 PM

The Library is open for 7-12 grade students only to come hang out after school with friends. There will be video games and movies to enjoy, there will also be snacks and drinks provided.

The Teen Zones are sponsored by the Friends of the Library.


 

Teen ZoneTeen Advisory Board (TAB) Meeting
Monday, May 13th, 3:00 - 4:00 PM

TAB is made up of local 6-12 grade students who want to support their public library by helping to plan teen events, assist staff in what items to purchase and promote the library among their peers. Being a TAB member also looks great on job applications and college applications.

Interested teens can email Michelle Traer, or come in the library to pick up an application. Sponsored by the Ocean Shores Friends of the Library.


 

Bring Your Own Book Mount St. Helens Photo Presentation
Friday, May 17th, 12:00 - 1:30 PM

At 12:30 pm on May 18, 1980, National Guard helicopter pilot Mike Cairns flew beneath the ash cloud and into the crater of the Mt. St. Helens volcanic eruption. In the days ahead, as Mike and his crew flew search & rescue missions, they documented the devastation with hundreds of photographs. Mike will be sharing his experience and his photos.


 

VR Virtual Reality (VR)
Saturday, May 18th, 1:00 - 4:00 PM

A whole world of immersive experiences awaits! Come Experience VR, from experiences like a tour of the International Space Station, walking on the beach, or be in the middle of the action in a 360 degree video. Enjoy immersive games that allow you to fly a plane, or be a chef at a fancy restaurant.

Spots are limited call or visit the library to reserve your experience.

AGES 13 AND UP.


 

Teen ZoneCollection Highlights : Graphic Novels>

What used to be called Comic Books have graduated into Graphic Novels and the library has an extensive collection in the Young Adult Area. A large portion of these are ‘Manga’ a very popular graphic novel style from Japan that you read backwards! There is action, romance, and fantasy. Check it out!
